Two leopards are visited by a hyena after a short mating session.

The Kruger National Park

Kruger Shalati is the gateway to the Kruger National Park, The world-renowned wilderness area that boasts frequent sightings of South Africa’s Big Five – elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo.

With so many wildlife sightings in the Kruger National Park area, incredible rare sightings can be enjoyed. Especially members of the big five mating.

These two leopards enjoy a quick mating session right in front of the live animal cam. A leopard’s urine gives other leopards in the area important information about who has been in the area and their reproductive status. Female leopards will mate with multiple males in the area to confuse paternity, this way if any male she has mated with comes by, he is less likely to kill them assuming that they could be his cubs.

After the leopards mate and relax, a surprise visitor investigates.

the tired leopards enjoy a quick nap, unaware of a visiting hyena. The hyena sniffs around in the dark for awhile, testing the leopard’s awareness. Luckily, the leopards remain asleep, and the hyena is able to move on without confrontation.
