Africam’s Virtual Wildlife Photography Competition

Africam is excited to announce our upcoming virtual wildlife photography competition. If you have a passion for photography and a love for the wonders of the African wilderness, this is your chance to showcase your skills and win fantastic prizes. Get ready to embark on a thrilling journey through the live wildlife cameras, as we explore the details of this exciting competition.

The Competition Details

Africam’s Virtual Wildlife Photography Competition is set to run for four months, from the 1st of August to the 30th of November 2023. During this period, Africam subscribers will have the opportunity to submit their best wildlife snaps via email to photocomp@africam.com. Whether you’re a seasoned Africam snapper or just a budding enthusiast, this competition welcomes everyone to share their unique encounters with the captivating African wildlife seen on the live cameras.

The Weekly Selection

Each week, the Africam team will curate a collection of the top five submitted photographs. These selected images will be featured on our new show – Always Wild, where the resident ranger will discuss the reasons behind their choices. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn from the experts and gain insights into the art of wildlife photography. Africam will also feature the top five selected photos on our social media pages every Friday.

The Prizes

At the end of the four-month competition, the anticipation will peak as the winner is announced on the 8th of December.

The first-place winner will be rewarded with a set of incredible prizes, including:

1. Custom Designed Canvas Print: The winning photograph will be transformed into a stunning canvas print by our Africam artist, immortalizing the captivating wildlife moment forever.
2. Personalized Mug: In addition to the canvas print, the winner will receive a mug featuring their winning photograph, making each cup of coffee or tea a reminder of their photographic achievement.
3. $250 Africam Shop Credit: The winner will receive $250 to spend on the Africam online shop, offering a wide range of wildlife-related merchandise, from clothing to posters.
4. Africam Premium Subscription: To continue enjoying Africam’s incredible virtual wildlife experiences, the winner will receive a complimentary Africam premium subscription for an entire year.

Runner-Ups and Recognition

Although there can only be one winner, three runner-ups will not go unnoticed. Each of the three runner-ups will receive a mug personalized with their winning photograph. It’s a small token of appreciation for their exceptional talent and participation in this thrilling competition.

Privacy and Recognition Preferences

At Africam, we respect your privacy and understand that not everyone may want their real name publicly associated with their submissions. Therefore, winners will have the option to use their Africam handle instead of their real name when announced. Additionally, winners can choose whether they want their custom-designed photograph to be made available for purchase in the Africam shop, ensuring that they have full control over their creations.

How to Enter

1. Subscribe to Africam Premium or Youtube Memberships : To participate in the competition, you must be an Africam premium subscriber. If you’re not already a subscriber, head to Africam.com and sign up for a premium membership or join our new YouTube membership on the Wildlife Champion tier – starting on the 1st of August to gain access to the full spectrum of virtual wildlife experiences.
2. Capture Your Wildlife or Landscape Shot: Once you’re an Africam premium subscriber, the wildlife safari awaits! Take your time to explore the diverse landscapes and magnificent creatures visible through Africam’s live cameras. Choose your favorite moment and get ready to capture it through your screen.
3. Save Your Photo: Once you’ve taken your wildlife or landscape shot, save the image onto your computer or cell phone. You can click the download button next to your image on Africam to save it to your device. Make sure the image is in JPG or PNG format for submission.
4. Submit Your Entry: Now comes the exciting part – submitting your masterpiece! Send your photograph by email to photocomp@africam.com. In your email, please provide the following details:

• Your name
• Africam handle or whether you prefer your real name to be used in public
• A title for your photograph
• A brief description of the scene or animal you captured and the specific Africam camera it was taken from

Terms and Conditions

1. The Africam Virtual Wildlife Photographer 2023 competition opens for entries on 1st August 2023 and closes on 30th November 2023. Participants are required to read and agree to the rules of the competition before entering.
2. Participants may submit one image per entry, and each image must be captured on Africam from 1st August 2023 onwards. Snaps taken before this date are not eligible for submission.
3. You can enter as many images as you want throughout the competition.
4. Entrants must be Africam premium subscribers or Youtube Wildlife Champion members to qualify for the competition.
5. All submitted photographs must be the original work of the participant. Plagiarism or the use of another person’s snapshot, even if they are similar, is strictly prohibited.
6. Edits and manipulations should be kept to a minimum, with major alterations using design software discouraged. The competition aims to celebrate authentic wildlife moments as they were captured.
7. Photographs of rhinos captured on any of the Africam cameras are not eligible for submission.
8. Even Africam’s dedicated camera operators or “Zoomies” are welcome to participate in the competition with their own images.
9. The decisions of the competition’s judges are final, and they are not to be contacted during the competition period.
10. The use of Africam handles instead of real names and the option to decline or modify prize usage are respected and honored.
11. Prizes are non-transferable, and no cash alternative is provided.
12. Africam reserves the right to use submitted images for promotional purposes, crediting the photographers whenever possible.
